VANARAMA National League clubs have no “clear understanding” of where the division is heading as Weymouth travel to embattled King’s Lynn Town tomorrow (3pm).

Those are the sentiments of Terras’ boss Brian Stock, with old rivals King’s Lynn threatening to pull out of playing action following their match.

The Linnets, who beat Weymouth 3-0 in a Southern League play-off semi-final in 2018, could follow Dover in furloughing players – risking a fine, points penalty or even demotion.

Weymouth also face the possibility of losing any points they may earn at King’s Lynn, should the Linnets cease play and have their results expunged.

And Stock, whose Weymouth side is set to spend several thousand pounds on travel, a hotel and other expenses for the fixture, is not impressed with how the situation has been handled.

He told Echosport: “Decisions in general from day one have been so delayed.

“There’s no clear understanding of where it’s heading. We’re now going to travel on the Friday, we’re going to pay for a coach, a hotel.

“It comes at an expense for a club like us, although it’s in the budget. When we’re not actually gaining any income, these expenses become even more highlighted.

“If we go to King’s Lynn and get a result, that result – if King’s Lynn were to stop – there is that possibility that all the results against King’s Lynn and Dover will be expunged.

“It’s a difficult one, but we need to act in a professional way as best as we can.”

Weymouth lost 3-1 to rivals Yeovil on Tuesday and Stock is keen to recover good form shown previously in 2021.

He said: “The one thing that worries me is if performance isn’t there. Although I know there’s a lot more to give from each individual and as a team, the performances have been consistent over the last seven games.

“There’s been a slight dip in terms of those standards against Boreham Wood and Yeovil.

“When I look ahead, it’s important the players remind themselves of the recent run of results.

“We’ve picked up 10 points in seven games as opposed to eight in the first 16, so it’s important we don’t dwell on the situation.”

Weymouth will make a late call on both skipper Josh McQuoid’s hamstring injury and Ollie Harfield’s ankle knock. Goalkeeper Gerard Benfield is in contention to return following disciplinary issues.
