BALTI Sports romped to a crushing 4-1 derby win over rivals Dorchester Sports at Weymouth College.

Victory handed Balti their first three points of the new DPL Supplementary Cup and took their tally of goals scored to 10 in four games.

Gaining revenge for the 1-0 loss to Ashley James’ side last week, Balti set the foundation for this impressive win early on.

Although Sanchez Baker missed two early one-on-one chances, experienced midfielder Ryan Dovell smacked a 25-yard rocket into the top corner to put Balti 1-0 up.

Dorch Sports responded when Josh Leake thumped the post from 20 yards and Gareth Will aimed wide at the back post.

An unmarked Darren Watts had the best chance for an equaliser but Andy Nott saved smartly to deny what would have been a lovely team goal.

Balti punished their enemies for missed chances when Jack Drummond’s cross picked out Baker to slot home for 2-0.

Balti switched into top gear in the second half and killed off the game with two quick goals.

Dovell was involved again, heading a good finish from a deft flick by Stef Stavrianos.

Stavrianos continued to make a blistering impression on the game, cutting inside and drilling into the bottom corner for 4-0.

Danny Andrews and Baker wasted opportunities and Dovell nearly grabbed his hat-trick before Baker saw a header ruled out for a tight offside call.

Ben Thomas notched a late consolation for the visitors when Andy Nott, who was struggling with a groin injury, was beaten six yards out.

Delighted Balti boss Marco Nott told Echosport: “That’s right up there as one of the best performances I’ve seen for Balti.

“They were absolutely outstanding, everyone was heavy metal. We went out to play attacking football, get that lead and went with quite an attacking line-up.

“We started so bright and created some really good chances. We were thinking: ‘Is it going to be our night?’ with the chances we missed.

“Once we got the goal, we settled down and played some really good football. We dominated the game.”

Defeated manager James said: “It was close up until half-time but we went in 2-0 down.

“Sloppy mistakes again cost us goals and we didn’t take our chances at the other end.

“Second half they were dominant and thoroughly deserved their win. We had no answers for them.

“They managed to get the goals and that settled the game.”
