TOM Bath admitted it is the “perfect time to move on” as excess travelling and offers from other clubs persuaded him to leave Dorchester Town.

Former Tiverton Town hitman Bath scored 21 times in 47 games across two seasons for the Magpies after joining in 2019 under ex-boss Callum Brooks.

In March, Bath had hinted at his desire to stay with Dorchester but has now explained the factors behind his exit.

Departing Dorchester with a heavy heart, he told Echosport: “I’ve had a bit of a think and the best thing for me was to leave.

“It’s a great club but the travelling was getting to me a bit with training once, twice a week and Saturdays.

“I’ve had a few offers, so I’m going to weigh them up and see where it takes me.

“I’m entertaining offers from the same sort of level. I always try and play at the highest level I can, for the best teams.”

Bath emphasised just what Dorchester meant to him with a sincere message of thanks to the Magpies.

He said: “I’ve had a great couple of years. It’s been a bit stop-start but meeting great people and the fans has been brilliant.

“It hasn’t been great on the pitch but they’ve stuck with us and it has helped me on the pitch, personally.

“My mum and dad turned up to games and have thoroughly enjoyed it.

“I’ve got nothing but respect for Robbie (Herrera, boss), Scott (Symes, chairman) and the fans.

“It was just the perfect time to move on.”
