BRIAN Stock praised his backroom staff for working “round the clock” in preparation for the Terras’ Vanarama National League clash with Altrincham tomorrow (3pm).

Weymouth, in 18th, welcome 17th-placed Alty to the Bob Lucas Stadium looking to end a run of three straight league defeats.

The losses have come amid a heavy end-of-season schedule, leading to the Terras’ analysts and coaches working all hours to get the squad ready for matches.

Stock told Echosport: “We’ve got the analysts that have been working round the clock trying to get us prepared.

“It’s more a case of making sure our squad are ready to go again. By the time Saturday comes we’ll have a good idea of (Altrincham’s) threats and how we can exploit them.”

On recent performances against Sutton and Solihull, Stock added: “At Sutton we came up against a strong, athletic side.

“We had a quick turnaround Tuesday against Solihull.

“As a manager you’re thinking about fitness and energy levels, and what they’ve done on the morning of the game and the fact that we had to leave early.

“It made the majority of the players have a day off work.

“I was really pleased with the performance but the first 25 minutes of the second half is something we can learn from.

“We invited too much pressure and didn’t get out of our half for quite some time.”

Defender-turned-winger Calvin Brooks could make his 300th Terras appearance but centre-back Ben Morgan (hamstring) and striker Ben Thomson (groin) miss out.

On Thomson, Stock said: “Thommo will be close to being ruled out for the season.

“He tried to come back against Sutton and within 10 minutes it reoccurred and is probably worse.

“We’ll see how it settles down. I won’t rule him out for the season but it’s very unlikely he’ll play again.

“Apart from that we’ve got one or two bumps and bruises but I don’t think there’s anything to be worried about going into the weekend.”
