POOR weather struck the Dorset League schedule with only seven of 32 games completed.
Five further matches began but were forced to abandon due to the elements.
One such contest was Martinstown’s home meeting with Sherborne, with Town reaching 38-2 before standing water swamped the square.
Speaking to Echosport after the call-off, Martinstown’s skipper Sam Kershaw explained: “It’s a hard one, really.
“With the overnight rain, we knew if we had any more we’d be done.
“The forecast was to stay dry and they wanted to get a game, so we thought we’d give it a go.
“We got 11 overs in and a heavy downpour for 15 minutes meant the square had standing water.
“The run-ups were gone.”

The seven games to survive the downpours were at Portland, Dorchester Seconds, Swanage Seconds and Thirds, Puddletown Seconds, Wimborne Fourths and Winton Thirds.
