DORSET’s own Brennan Camp has extended his contract at Bournemouth into the 2021/22 season.

Camp, 20, was born in Dorchester and grew up in Portland before being scouted by the Cherries playing for Weymouth at youth level.

Camp is the grandson of former Weymouth boss Gerry Gow and therefore qualifies for Scotland, scoring on his under-19s international debut against Azerbaijan in 2019.

He signed a two-year professional deal with Bournemouth in June 2019 and the Cherries yesterday exercised an option to keep him at Vitality Stadium for another year.

Camp has had several loan spells with Weymouth in the past two seasons but could have played his final game for the club this campaign due to a thigh injury.

Weymouth boss Brian Stock said: “I received a very pleasant message from Brennan, saying what a fantastic year – he’s enjoyed every minute.

“That’s coincided with him getting his contract extended. He’s a local lad and the relationship he has with the fans is great.

“Brennan’s character is second to none. Although he’s struggling for fitness for (Hartlepool), he’s had a fantastic season for us.”

Meanwhile, Bournemouth have released former Weymouth loanee centre-back Corey Jordan – who himself decided to leave the Terras in January.

On a possible move for Jordan, Stock added: “It kills me to say this, because I’ve seen Corey over the last couple of years and he’s a player I had real high hopes for.

“But, unfortunately, we wouldn’t (approach him) due to what happened in January.

“He wouldn’t be a player that would be for us at this moment in time.”
