WEYMOUTH WOMEN 3

POOLE TOWN LADIES RES 1

WEYMOUTH Women completed their first Dorset Women’s League season by beating Poole Town Ladies 3-1 at The Marsh.

The result leaves Tasha Sibley’s squad in second place of the eight teams, three points behind Holt United whose perfect record took them to the title.

Weymouth’s sixth win of the season was predicated by a fifth-minute penalty for Lucy Roberts, who slotted home into the bottom-right corner.

After Terras’ keeper Kate Osment made a brave one-on-one save to deny Poole, Weymouth added a second.

Roberts, the smallest player on the pitch, got up to nod Shakira Howard’s inviting cross over the away custodian for 2-0 at half-time.

Poole fought back in the second half when Emma Acott beat the offside trap before coolly finishing past Osment.

However, Weymouth player-manager Tasha Sibley made sure of the three points with a sweetly-struck shot into the top-left corner.

Terras: Osment, Lusty, Potter, de Havilland, C Barnard-Irons, B Barnard-Irons, Sibley, Wilson, Beasley, Howard, Roberts. Subs: Taylor, Wootton, Wilkinson.
