WEYMOUTH left-back Ollie Harfield has signed a two-year deal to remain at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

Harfield, 23, has been a near ever-present with the Terras for two seasons, making 82 appearances.

After gaining previous National League experience with Dagenham, the former Bournemouth defender racked up another 42 appearances in the division this season.

Harfield built a formidable partnership with Sean Shields on the left last campaign, providing five assists and two second assists.

Speaking to Echosport, manager Brian Stock said: "We started negotiations with Ollie quite early.

"For me, he's one of the most consistent players within the squad.

"Coincidentally, he played the most amount of minutes within the whole squad which speaks volumes for a player that gives so much energy up and down the pitch.

"When you look at the GPS running stats, he continually smashes that every single game.

"It was important we tied him down - and for two years."

Stock added: "We're at a stage now where we want to try and build for the future.

"The majority of clubs in the leagues below would probably go year to year.

"I feel we're in a position if things go well to gain that consistency and keep the club in this division for years to come.

"Even though Sean gained 14 assists, sometimes that assist is created by Ollie on the overlap, it allows Sean to cross the ball.

"It's a big focal point of how we like to attack and with Ollie's energy, he's there for 90 minutes. It's incredible how he can keep going in a tough division."

Meanwhile, the Terras have announced a home pre-season friendly with Exeter City on Tuesday, July 20 (7.30pm).

Season tickets at the Bob Lucas Stadium are now on sale for the 2021/22 season.
