WEYMOUTH midfielder Andy Robinson has become the fourth player to commit to the Terras for the 2021/22 season.

Robinson, 28, joins defenders Ben Morgan and Ollie Harfield plus captain Josh McQuoid on Weymouth’s books.

Former Southampton, Bolton and Dorchester Town man Robinson played 32 times for Weymouth last season, scoring twice and creating two assists.

Robinson nailed down a regular starting spot in midfield following a hip injury and now has 52 career Weymouth appearances to his name.

Speaking to Echosport, manager Brian Stock said: “I know him having played with him previously at Havant.

“As the season drew to a close I felt we saw his best performances of the season.

“It’s important he has a good pre-season and fixes one or two niggling injuries that have probably set him back on a few occasions this year.

“Nothing too serious, but enough to keep him out of playing games. I do think he’ll benefit from having a good pre-season ready to go for next year.

“I know what I’m going to get out of Robbo. He’s a player that will give absolutely everything on the pitch.

“He’s comfortable in possession and in particular the way I want to play. He fits the mould perfectly.”

Elsewhere, former loanee Ben Worman has signed a one-year extension to his deal at Cambridge United.

Worman, 19, played nine times for the Terras last season, providing two assists.

So far in his Cambridge career, Worman has made just one appearance.

However, United have been convinced enough of the attacking midfielder's ability to offer him a new deal – his second pro deal at the Abbey Stadium.

“It is a delight to still be here for another year,” Worman told the club's media team.

“I have been here since I was eight years old and I am looking forward to next season now.

“My game-time has been limited but it’s a good thing that the club want me here so I am willing to show them what I can do and take the opportunities that come my way.”

In addition, former Weymouth winger Abdulai Baggie has been released by Eastleigh.
