WEYMOUTH have announce the signing of centre-back Josh Leslie-Smith for the 2021/22 season.

Leslie-Smith, who joined from Poole last summer, made 18 appearances – including 11 starts – for the Terras in their previous Vanarama National League campaign, also providing one assist.

The 21-year-old becomes the 10th player to have agreed terms with Weymouth along with goalkeeper Gerard Benfield, fellow defenders Ben Morgan, Ollie Harfield and Calvin Brooks, midfielders Andy Robinson, Sean Shields, Cameron Murray and forwards Josh McQuoid and Brandon Goodship.

Weymouth boss Brian Stock said of Leslie-Smith: “He had a fantastic start to the season.

“Josh was very unfortunate with the concussion he received and it really did knock him sideways. I’m sure he’ll be the first to admit that.

“It’s taken Josh a while to get back into the routine of things and he then suffered a minor setback with an ankle injury picked up in training.

“He’s a character I really like, he wants to learn, he’s honest, hardworking and whether he’s playing, in the stands, or on the bench he’ll always give 110 per cent.

“With his ability on the ball, versatility on the pitch and the weapon of a long throw he possesses, Josh will be an important member of the squad going into the new season.”

Eleven players have left the Bob Lucas Stadium: Jake McCarthy; Jordan Ngalo; Josh Wakefield; Pierre Fonkeu; Ade Olumuyiwa; Jack Hoey; Alefe Santos; Jack Dickson; Myles Anderson; Cody Cooke and Harry Burns.
