DORCHESTER Town will host Weymouth in a pre-season friendly at the Avenue in July.

The rivals will vie for local bragging rights on Saturday, July 31 (3pm).

It is the latest renewal of the Ridgeway derby, with the Terras having taken a 3-1 victory last September.

Weymouth also claimed a 4-2 victory in the Dorset Senior Cup final in March 2020, shortly before the first national lockdown.

Dorchester have also announced three further friendlies.

The Magpies kick-off their pre-season schedule with a game against Wessex League side Hamworthy on Saturday, July 10 (3pm).

Tim Sills' men were top of their division before the curtailment of the 2020/21 season.

Dorchester beat the Hammers 7-0 en route to the Dorset Senior Cup final in 2020.

Christchurch, who knocked Dorchester out of the FA Cup last season, will travel to the Avenue on Saturday, July 17 (3pm).

Western League side Buckland Athletic then visit the Avenue on Saturday, July 24 (3pm).

Exeter City Under-23s travel to Dorchester for the Magpies' first midweek friendly on Tuesday, July 27 (7.45pm) before the Weymouth meeting four days later.

Elsewhere, Weymouth will play Bridgwater United at Fairfax Park on Saturday, July 17 (3pm) and make the short trip to Portland United on Tuesday, July 13 (7.45pm).
