WEYMOUTH have announced the triple signing of defender Tyler Cordner, goalkeeper Ross Fitzsimons and winger Ahkeem Rose.

Fitzsimons, 27, joins on a one-year deal from the Terras' Vanarama National League counterparts Stockport County.

The Londoner counts Notts County and Boston United among his former clubs and was on the books at Crystal Palace and Bolton although he did not appear for either side.

Fitzsimons will vie with fellow custodian Gerard Benfield for a starting place.

Terras' boss Brian Stock told Echosport: “He’ll join us on a year’s contract from Stockport and he was at Notts County (before).

“He’s an experienced goalkeeper and I’m really excited with this one.

“He’s very good with his feet, very good in goal. So it’s a really positive signing for us.”

Rose, 22, joins from fellow National League club Dover after scoring three goals in League Two with Grimsby Town - who the Terras will face this season.

Jamaican wide man Rose also county Boston United among his former clubs.

Stock said: “I’m really excited about Ahkeem. He played in the League with Grimsby and scored a couple of goals.

“He’s a bit unfortunate with a couple of issues with his work permit two years ago.

“He was at Dover, his season got cut short but he’s an exciting player, full of pace.

“He can take players on, he’s lightning quick and a player which I think will get the fans off their seats.

“We want to make sure we bring pace to the team. It took a while to make sure we came to an agreement with him but he’s got a point to prove.

“Ability-wise, you’re looking at a League-type player coming into the ranks. He needs to play games.”

Cordner is a particularly impressive capture, given clubs such as Southend United were in the race for his signature.

Cordner played 14 games for the Shrimpers last season on loan from Bournemouth before the Cherries released the centre-back.

Stock said: “I know Tyler having played with him at Havant & Waterlooville.

“He’s a player that has bags of potential.

“One thing I love about Tyler is that he’s gone out and experienced those games at lower league level and also in the League.

“Sometimes when players leave academy football and they’ve not experienced those appearances, it becomes difficult to find another club.

“Tyler’s done that, he’s gone out and performed well.

“He’s commanding, 6ft 4, nearly 6ft 5, so aerially he brings a lot to the table, but a player that brings that side to the table as well as the playing side.

“He’s a big signing for us in that aspect.”

The trio take the tally of Weymouth signings this summer to 16.
