DORCHESTER Town are in talks with a goalkeeper over a proposed move to the Avenue Stadium.

The Magpies have secured 11 signings this summer but all are defenders or midfielders.

Herrera drafted in keeper Alan Walker-Harris for Saturday’s 5-0 friendly win over Christchurch, while young custodian Tyler Coombes finished the game between the sticks.

Speaking to Echosport, Herrera said: “We’re in talks with a goalkeeper so I’m hoping that will be done (this) week.”

But Dorchester remain patient on their bid to sign a striker, Herrera adding: “Strikers, they’re at a premium.

“At times you’ve got to pay top dollar. If it was that easy I would’ve had someone in by now.

“It’s going to take a little bit of time.

“I just don’t want to waste any money on somebody who’s going to be in as a short term.

“It will take some work but I’m sure we’ll get something over the line in the next few weeks.”

Herrera’s search comes as former Dorchester loanee striker Klaidi Lolos signed for Torquay yesterday, following his release from Plymouth.

Elsewhere, Dorchester’s away league clash at Truro has been brought forward a day to Tuesday, September 28 (7.45pm).
