Brian Stock spoke about his depth in the squad following Weymouth’s 2-0 victory against Wimborne at the new Cuthbury on Saturday.

Weymouth controlled the game from the opening minutes, which was an aspect of the game that Stock focused on for this clash.

“I asked players to keep the possession better, to take less touches and move quicker and then it gave us the problem of trying to unlock a very stern defence,” he said.

Weymouth kick off their season on the 21st of August against Boreham Wood and Stock commented on the amount of options available to him before the curtain raiser in a few weeks.

“The competition for places is unbelievable, even coming to Wimborne today to select a team was tough but that’s the problem you want as a manager.” Stock said.

Stock then went on to talk about managing his side ahead of the campaign: “We’ve had to look after 3 or 4 players today, with limited minutes.”

Ben Morgan came on as a substitute, with McQuoid, Rose and Thomson missing out.

“In terms of individuals we have had to concentrate on them and make sure they are not missing out any longer than they are,” Stock said.
