DORCHESTER Town boss Robbie Herrera is pleased with his recruitment over the past week.

With the Magpies hunting for a striker all summer, Herrera has managed to procure two in five days.

His first capture was the one-month loan of forward Kieran Phillips from Bristol Rovers.

Last Saturday, Phillips instantly repaid Dorchester’s faith by scoring one minute into his debut and completing his brace in the 35th minute to give Dorchester a 2-0 win over Walton Casuals.

He earned another start in the 1-0 loss to Weston-super-Mare on Tuesday but, with chances at a premium, was replaced by fellow new striker Rudy Plummer for the final 24 minutes.

Plummer, who has Southern League experience at Chesham and Gosport, was signed hours before the Seagulls clash following a seven-day approach to Chesham.

And Herrera is satisfied with his new attacking options, winger Sam Bayston having filled in up front before the duo joined.

On his business in the player market, he told Echosport: “It’s been good, Kieran came in and got the two goals.

“Unfortunately he couldn’t add to that (Tuesday) evening but he’s worked hard.

“Then, Rudy knows this level and he’ll be good for us. We’ll try and play to his strengths.”

Dorchester are also understood to be in talks with a third attacking target.

The Magpies were not without chances against Weston, Herrera adding: “We had a couple, obviously the one that hit the bar from Oakley (Hanger) in the first half.

“Ashley Wells has got a great chance with a header which he should’ve done better with and Ben Symes has had a chance at the back post and maybe should’ve gone with his other foot.

“But we maybe didn’t test the keeper before he had to go off. Again, it’s not good enough from us. We need to be better, especially after the win at the weekend.

“We were on a bit of a high. To have got a point or three would’ve been great going into the break we’ve got.”

Dorchester have no game this weekend but return to action at Harrow on Saturday, September 25.
