DORCHESTER LADIES 3
WEYMOUTH WOMEN 2
WEYMOUTH Women succumbed to their first Dorset Women’s League defeat since the opening day of last season after rivals Dorchester Town won 3-2 at Thomas Hardye School.
The Magpies’ experienced midfielder Clare Bagwell bagged a hat-trick to better a second-half brace of goals from Weymouth’s Shakira Howard.
Dorchester dealt the first blow in a competitive derby on 23 minutes; Kerry Bartlett whipping in a corner which the Terras failed to clear and Bagwell bundled in her first from close range.
Nine minutes later and Dorchester had doubled their lead in a similar fashion to the first, another Bartlett corner found Bagwell, who made sure she fired home.
Weymouth pulled one back shortly after half-time, Sophie Webber-Green electing to pass rather than shoot and presenting Howard with her first goal.

Bagwell earned her hat-trick two minutes later with a powerful half-volley that flew into the corner from 25 yards out.
There was time for the Terras to narrow the gap, Howard slotting coolly past Cherys Stimpson-Peay to set up a nervy finish.
But Dorchester held on thanks to some resolute defending and a series of incredible saves from Stimpson-Peay to earn a second win of the season.
Terras: Osment, Whiting, Potter, C.Barnard-Irons, de Havilland, Wootton, Sibley, So.Webber-Green, Howard, Beasley. Subs on: Wilson, Locke-White.
