DORCHESTER Sports are confident of maintaining their good form ahead of a trip to Shaftesbury Town Reserves tomorrow (3pm).

Ashley James’ men have won nine of 13 games in all competitions this season and currently sit fifth in the Jewson Dorset Premier League.

They travel to a Rockies side who have also enjoyed a good record this season, winning four of their nine league games to occupy seventh.

However, off the back of a 7-0 win over Poole Borough last weekend, Sports are on a high.

James told Echosport: “According to all the lads it was a very positive performance and we’ll be looking for more of the same (tomorrow).

“We’ve been in good form in large amounts this season. It’s nine wins in 13.

“The four games we’ve not picked up wins in have been difficult away games. I’m not sure people will get much at Westland, Stur Newton and Ham Rec this year anyway.

“We were disappointed not to but the games we felt we should’ve won we actually have. That’s a massive bonus because last year we weren’t winning these games.

“We were struggling against some of the teams in the lower half.”

Sports could hand a debut to left-back Liam O’Shaughnessy, who has exited rivals Balti Sports.

James said: “It wasn’t an easy one but it’s a player decision. Unfortunately we lost Jamie (Rawlings) to them in the summer – that was a player decision.

“It’s not been nice to do it but if he wants to join us we can’t really say no for a player of his ability.

“He’s young, hungry to do well, fit and a good left foot. You don’t get many of them about any more.

“When the opportunity came to us we couldn’t say no. I’m sure another team would’ve said yes if he wanted to join them.”

Jamie Symes and Sam Buckler (both groin), plus Ash Smith (hamstring) miss out.
