CALVIN Brooks has issued a heartfelt goodbye message to the Weymouth faithful after his exit from the Bob Lucas Stadium on Tuesday.

Brooks ended an eight-season association with the Terras to join Salisbury – a drop of two divisions from the National League.

However, travelling and extra demands associated with playing at the top flight of English football’s non-League system contributed to Brooks’ decision.

The defenders leaves having played 312 games, scoring 29 goals and registering 30 assists.

He was also a major part of the club’s back-to-back promotions under ex-boss Mark Molesley.

Taking to Twitter to pen his thoughts, Brooks said: “Firstly I would like to make it known that this was one of the toughest decisions I have had to make but the time is right for me to move on.

“It’s been an amazing eight years!

“I will miss those friendly faces at the Bob Lucas Stadium, the fans, the stewards, the match day staff, everyone!

“I only have positive words to share about this football club, thank you for supporting me for the last eight years, we achieved some incredible things.

“When I joined this club, the aim was to get back to the National League and we did it.

“Thank you to the managers I have played under and their backroom staff, thank you to the fans and a special thank you to Paul Maitland, a true gent in a cut-throat industry and someone I call a personal friend.

“I will never forget that final game of the season at home to Farnborough. I will always be a Terras fan.”

Brooks made his Salisbury debut on Tuesday, helping keep a clean sheet as Steve Claridge’s men beat Merthyr Town 2-0.

He has joined up with fellow ex-Weymouth players Harry Baker, Josh Wakefield, Charlie Davis and Antonio Diaz.
