DORCHESTER Town have signed midfielder Charlie Gunson from Wimborne Town.

Echosport understands Gunson was absent from the Wimborne side that lost 3-0 to Dorchester on Tuesday while the deal was being completed.

Gunson will again work with manager Glenn Howes and assistant James Wood after helping Blackfield & Langley to promotion in 2019.

Gunson also counts AFC Totton, where he chalked up almost 100 appearances, among his former clubs.

Speaking to Echosport, Wood said: Charlie is a player we know well - we had him at Blackfield with me and Glenn.

"Charlie's an excellent player, and fits what we want. Hungry, young, wants to climb the non-League ladder.

"Technically very good, scores goals from a midfield area, has got a good engine, will work hard, so he ticks all the boxes for us."

Gunson is the second new player to join the Glenn Howes era at the Avenue Stadium.

His arrival comes after former Coventry winger Billy Stedman signed for Dorchester earlier this week.

Stedman, 22, played seven minutes of the win against Wimborne and then featured for the Magpies' U23s as they thumped Ringwood Town 13-1 last night.

Ruben Smith scored four times and George Calverley also bagged a hat-trick, adding to Charlie Moors' brace and goals for Christos Papakonstantinou, Jack Steele, Ben Symes and Ollie Crisp.
