WEYMOUTH manager Brian Stock was pleased with his team’s performance as the Terras booked their place in Round 4 of the FA Trophy following a 1-0 win away to Hungerford Town - and said there was now a 'feel-good factor' at the club.

He said “The desire and attitude from the team was excellent. We’ve come up against a tough and tricky tie in Hungerford. Given the pitch and their style of play, we needed to have big characters today. Man for man we dealt with their directness and sometimes we had to fight fire with fire, we couldn’t just bring the ball down and play, but when we did, Cam Murray had a nice bit of skill and Josh McQuoid finished brilliantly and we saw the game out well.”

Having flipped back to a back four formation, he praised his team's defence, adding: "We were prepared well to deal with their direct play, we flipped to a back four today due to losing Ben Morgan to COVID and we had to deal with tricky playing conditions. Man for man we defended well, not just the back four but in the midfield too and we put them under pressure to try and affect their balls forward.”

He said it felt good to end the team's run of defeats heading into the festive period.

“There’s a few tired legs, they’ve had to work hard and dig deep," he said.

"Brad Ash and Omar Mussa have taken knocks and a few walking wounded. But there’s a feel-good factor now, we’ve stopped the run of defeats. Today could have been a banana skin for us, but instead we’re coming away full of confidence and sometimes when you get wins, it can kickstart your season again and I think it will.”
