WEYMOUTH boss Brian Stock insists the Terras go into Boxing Day’s clash with Eastleigh “full of confidence”.

Stock’s men welcome the Spitfires to the Bob Lucas Stadium (3pm) having defeated Hungerford Town 1-0 in the FA Trophy third round last time out.

Weymouth face Dartford in the fourth round next month – the Darts looking for revenge after missing out on promotion to the National League at the hands of the Terras last season.

After the claret and blues registered back-to-back wins against Aldershot and King’s Lynn, Weymouth have lost each of the next five league games.

However, Stock wants to use a more rigid defensive display in the 1-0 loss at Wrexham, plus the win at Hungerford, as a “stepping stone” for success against Eastleigh.

He told Echosport: “When you look at the infrastructure they have, we’re competing against a team that are full-time and have a much larger budget.

“When you compare league positions and form, it’s a game we go full of confidence into off the back of our performance at Hungerford.

“I felt there was a strong mentality, attitude and desire and it was evident, especially defensively, at Wrexham. We can call upon that in a game we’re looking to go and win.

“We’ll do our homework going into the game and for us, as a part-time outfit going into Christmas, we’re going to have to call upon every resource we can.

“There are certain sacrifices we’ve asked players to make and hopefully they’ll look after themselves and see the importance of Boxing Day and the 28th (at Yeovil).

“Looking at the performance at Hungerford, we need to use that as a stepping stone to kick-start our league form.”

Ben Thomson (groin), Ben Morgan (Covid-19), Harrison Bruton (finger) plus Omar Mussa, Brandon Goodship and Brad Ash (all ankle) are all either injured or doubts.

Stock said: “Ben’s still out through injury and we have quite a few knocks in-camp. Brad left (Hungerford) on crutches and is struggling with his ankle.

“He’s touch-and-go, so’s Omar. Brandon Goodship missed out, rolling his ankle in training leading up to the Hungerford game. He’s one we’re having to monitor.

“Harrison broke his finger in the warm-up away to Hungerford, so he’s going to be out for a number of weeks.

“Omar took a knock to the ankle and rolled it. He’s one we just need to assess prior to the game.”

Weymouth continue to monitor their squad after Morgan’s brush with Covid-19.
