WEYMOUTH have issued a thank you message to former boss Brian Stock.

The Terras on Wednesday parted ways with the ex-Wales midfielder with the club in 21st and on a run of seven straight league defeats.

While the delay in thanking Stock for his efforts has been criticised by a small number of Weymouth fans, Echosport understands negotiations over a settlement to Stock's contract were ongoing immediately after his departure.

Therefore the club waited before going public with a message of thanks in order to avoid affecting those discussions.

Terras' chairman Ian White said: "On behalf of Weymouth FC board of directors, I would like to place on record our thanks to Brian Stock for his dedication and hard work over the last 16 months.

"His professionalism and work ethic were second to none and I personally witnessed it on numerous occasions.

"He took on what is a very difficult job, and never once did he shy from the challenge of what is Weymouth Football Club.

"Last season he took the club to a very commendable 18th finishing position and please let me make it quite clear that the decision of no relegation was not ratified by the FA until mid-April 2021 so no one knew that anyone in the relegation zone would be reprieved.

"Brian can be very proud of that and what he achieved to give us another season in this great league.

"I would also like to thank Louis Langdown and Sean O’Driscoll for their time at Weymouth Football Club.

"Louis was Brian’s assistant throughout those 16 months, and he also worked (tirelessly) for the cause. Sean joined us very recently and I would like to thank him for his help and advice.

"Everyone at Weymouth FC wishes Brian, Louis and Sean all the best for the future and once again we thank them for their time at the club."
