BEACONSFIELD TOWN 2

DORCHESTER TOWN 0

DORCHESTER Town lost a fourth Pitching In Southern League Premier South in succession as in-form Beaconsfield Town won 2-0 at Holloways Park.

Beaconsfield hit the post moments before Ryan de Havilland’s opener but Dorchester had chances to equalise through Olaf Koszela and Tom Soares.

After hitting the post for a second time, the Rams went 2-0 up through Nathan Minhas.

Alfie Stanley and Koszela also had opportunities late on but the Magpies lacked fortune as they dropped a place to 19th after Hartley Wintney beat Merthyr Town 1-0.

Looking to halt the run of defeats, boss Glenn Howes made two changes to the side that began the 1-0 loss to Taunton last time out.

Striker Alfie Stanley returned to the starting XI after scoring two goals for the Magpies' U23s in midweek.

He was joined by fellow forward Josh Bertie, who earned his first full start after signing on dual terms from Andover Town.

Billy Lowes and Sam Bayston dropped to the bench alongside Billy Stedman, Ashley Guppy and the returning Charlie Madden.

After a relatively low-key opening half hour, the game sprung to life when Beaconsfield’s Lucas Sinclair rattled the post.

The Rams did break through almost immediately afterwards, de Havilland finishing off a patient and intricate team move for 1-0.

Dorchester pushed for an equaliser before half-time but hit the side-netting through Koszela and then saw experienced midfielder Soares glance a header wide.

Beaconsfield threatened at the beginning of the second half, hitting the woodwork again before Dorchester elected for two changes.

Howes called for the experience of Lowes and Bayston for Charlie Gunson and Bertie, who endured a difficult first start.

However, it was Beaconsfield who made the greater impact in the next 10 minutes as Minhas finished off Jordan Ajanlekoko’s cross.

Dorchester repsonded by switching Tom Purrington for Stedman in their final change and the Magpies improved late in the half.

Stanley went close with a drive but as the visitors threw men forward they were nearly caught out, Jack Bycroft producing an excellent save.

In the five minutes of added time, Koszela made good contact with a header which lacked direction as the Rams maintained a clean sheet.

They are now nine points off the play-off places, while Dorchester remain four points above the bottom three.
