DORCHESTER TOWN 1

Wells 90+3

TRURO CITY 1

Harvey 60

ASHLEY Wells popped up with a stoppage-time equaliser to earn Dorchester Town a fully deserved point in a 1-1 draw with Truro City at the Avenue Stadium.

Wells fired home Oakley Hanger’s assist in the 93rd minute to spark jubilation on the Magpies’ bench, ending a run of five straight league losses.

The former Weymouth captain's goal cancelled out Tyler Harvey’s opener and restored a four-point cushion to Kings Langley in the bottom three.

Dorchester boss Glenn Howes will see the result as just reward after a similarly impressive performance against Chesham United on Saturday yielded no points.

Prior to kick-off he made three changes, one enforced as left-back Tiago Sa was ruled out with an ankle injury sustained against Chesham.

George Calverley, fresh from signing dual terms with Bridport on Saturday, replaced him while Charlie Gunson and Wells came in at the expense of Tom Soares and Sam Bayston.

Dorchester were searching for their first home win since early December and made a good start in their quest to halt that run, Alfie Stanley firing just wide six minutes in.

Olaf Koszela then went close for the Magpies, intercepting Truro keeper James Hamon’s pass and blasting over.

Chances kept coming as Truro’s Andrew Neal drove wide from Will Dean’s pass before Tom Purrington clattered the bar for the hosts when unmarked.

Dorchester had enjoyed the best moments of the half but keeper Jack Bycroft had work to do before the break when claiming a deflected Neal effort and gathering Dean’s long-distance try.

Truro had the better of play up the hour mark as Harvey headed wide before the forward put the White Tigers in front.

Moments earlier, Stanley was denied by Hamon and Truro responded in the best possible fashion when Harvey fired into the far corner on 60 minutes.

Hamon kept Dorchester at bay again when Koszela was repelled and Billy Lowes then skied the rebound.

Bycroft made another good save to keep it at 1-0 and the Magpies nearly equalised on 79 minutes when Callum Buckley headed wide from Gunson’s corner.

Calverley was next to go close but Dorchester finally produced an equaliser they truly merited in the third of four added minutes.

Hanger was the inspiration, the right-back’s determined run and pass picking out Wells as the stand-in left-back guided a finish past Hamon for a share of the points.

Dorchester face a daunting trip to Hayes & Yeading on Saturday, the Londoners having thumped Wimborne 8-1 this evening.
