WEYMOUTH manager David Oldfield is relishing the intensity of derby day as the Terras visit old rivals Yeovil Town at Huish Park tonight (7.45pm).

Oldfield is set to experience his first derby as Weymouth boss in only his fourth game at the helm, as he looks to end a horrid run of Vanarama National League results.

No victory in 10 league games has plummeted Weymouth into the relegation zone – the Terras’ last three points coming on Hallowe’en against King’s Lynn.

And Weymouth will be seeking revenge for October’s FA Cup exit at the hands of the Glovers, who won a memorable replay 2-1 on penalties following two 1-1 draws.

Speaking to Echosport ahead of the clash, Oldfield said: “It’s a very important game for us on many levels.

“From our point of view it’s a very big game, we know that within the club. We need to make sure we’re as ready as possible.

“But also, it’s our next game. We need to grab any opportunity we can to play, try and improve and move forward.

“Irrespective of what happens we need to make sure we’re progressive and try to go forwards. We’re all looking forward to the challenge.”

He added: “It would mean a lot of the club. We know how important it is to the supporters, we want to reflect that.

“But also make sure we’re working as hard as we can collectively.

“It’s a big challenge, Yeovil are a good team and had a great result at the weekend – but we’ll be ready.”

Ben Thomson is edging closer to a return while Brad Ash plus Andreas Robinson continue to be monitored.

Martell Taylor-Crossdale and Josh Leslie-Smith are likely to be out.

For Yeovil, Mark Little and Tom Knowles are suspended, while Josh Staunton and Max Hunt are injured.
