DORCHESTER Town have pulled off one of the biggest signings in their recent history with the capture of full-back Mike Green.

Green, 32, made over 400 appearances across a 10-year spell for National League side Eastleigh before joining National League South outfit Havant & Waterlooville.

Green then took a break from football this season, playing just eight times for the Hawks.

And he has now joined the Avenue Stadium club for a new challenge as Dorchester aim to stay up in the Pitching In Southern League Premier South.

Magpies' assistant James Wood told Echosport: "He'll add much needed experience at this stage of the season, and obviously quality.

"He's a (National League), Southern (National League) player so it's a big boost for everyone.

"Greener can play in a couple of positions as well, he's got versatility.

"He's quite happy playing in a back three, five or four. You look at his CV and it's 400 games for Eastleigh.

"The boy's got quality. He's got experience but he's only 32 so he's still in the prime of his career.

"Our aim is just to get him on the pitch. If we can, playing in a relegation fight for Dorchester, it's not going to faze someone like Greener.

"His attributes are there for everyone to see."

Green is understood to have trained with Dorchester this evening.

Boss Glenn Howes told Dorchester's official website: "We're really pleased to welcome Michael to the club - he's an experienced National League level player who's played over 400 games for Eastleigh, and he's a great lad, so we're really looking forward to having him with us."

Green could make his debut in Saturday's league clash with Merthyr Town at the Avenue.
