DORCHESTER Town manager Glenn Howes insists his side has “evolved” since playing Met Police in November as the Magpies prepare for the return fixture tomorrow (3pm).

Howes’ men were defeated 2-0 at Imber Court and the Blues currently sit third in the Pitching In Southern League Premier South standings.

Dorchester, scrapping for their survival in this league, have won two of their past four games and were unlucky to lose in the 92nd minute at second-placed Farnborough in midweek.

With six games left to confirm their status in the league, Dorchester face arguably the biggest challenge remaining in their run-in.

Ahead of the clash on Non-League Day, Howes told Echosport: “We’re looking forward to playing at home, as we always do.

“It’s imperative we focus on Met Police and give everything to give ourselves a fighting chance against a very well organised side who are vying for the title.

“The performance wasn’t too far away (at Boro) so that bodes well, and we played well against Kings Langley.

“We’ll be ready and prepared as well as we can, we’ve got no time to lick our wounds.”

On Met Police, he added: “We were extremely impressed with Met Police when we played them earlier in the season.

“We frustrated them for just over an hour and they scored two really good goals from distance against us.

“However, we’ve evolved and changed. As good a side Met Police are, we feel like we can cause them problems.”

Yemi Odubade and Tom Soares (both family) are doubts, while Tiago Sa could feature after making his comeback from an ankle injury in Dorchester Under-23s’ 4-1 win over Bemerton.

Ruben Smith scored a double in that game, along with Ben Symes and Elliott Hartnell-Baker goals.

Elsewhere, the Julia’s House collection at the Swindon Supermarine game raised £262 for the charity.
