MATCH-WINNER Olaf Koszela is happy simply to help Dorchester Town’s survival cause after his goal in the 1-0 win at Wimborne Town on Saturday.

Torquay loanee Koszela, who only turned 20 five days before the game, notched his second goal in five matches to earn the Magpies a valuable three points.

His efforts helped Dorchester extend to three points the gap to the bottom three.

Striker Koszela is currently in his second spell with Dorchester, having joined the Magpies for the curtailed 2020/21 campaign.

And the Gulls’ marksman is keen to both feature and contribute as much as possible in the final four games of his stint at the Avenue Stadium.

He told Echosport: “It was a massive three points with the build-up.

“We’ve been playing well the last few games. Obviously we lost two but the performances have been good.

“We were confident we could finish the job and we’ve just done that.

“I’ve been waiting for my goal, it’s been a bit of a slow burner but I’ve been waiting patiently, working hard and when the chance came I didn’t think about it.

“I’m really pleased with that. I’m just glad I can help out. Obviously I’m on loan so I’m just gaining experience and helping out the team as much as possible is a bonus.

“I was here a year ago, I came back and Dorchester wasn’t in the greatest place. They deserve to be higher up that table, that’s what the team shows.

“There are four games left and the job’s not done but if we keep going, we’ll get there.”

Celebrations were softened slightly with Dorchester’s next game in mind – a pivotal home clash with Hendon a side winless in eight away league contests.

Koszela said: “We can enjoy the moment, we deserve the win, but everyone knows the job’s not done like I said.

“We’ve got to keep our heads, we’ve got to build up and work on the things we need to do and go again Saturday with the same performance and attitude. Hopefully we can get the three points again.”

Asked how he felt his second spell at Dorchester was going, he said: “It’s a lot different, obviously a different manager (Glenn Howes).

“I’ve got on with him really well. He’s welcomed me in and put me straight in the team, which is something I wasn’t expecting.

“It’s all experience for me as a young lad but I’m enjoying it. I’ve just been enjoying playing, because of Covid I’ve lost playing (time).”
