DORCHESTER head to Swindon ‘s New Pavilion for the final match of their 2021/22 Tribute Southern Counties South tomorrow (3pm).

In a re-run of the county town outfit’s first league game of the season, which Swindon won 12-0, Josh Ovey’s side have improved much since then with many young players coming to the fore.

Whilst third-placed Swindon sit four places above Dorchester in the table, a number of senior players are available this weekend to join the new guard as the side try to pick up points on the road.

After recovering from illness, Chris Elliot returns to the front row, with Ovey himself starting in the front also.

Charlie Sharpe continues his comeback from injury showing fine form in the back row. Team captain Steve Tucker starts in his familiar role at number eight.

The team’s set-piece scrum and line-out have both functioned well this season giving them a solid platform to build on, with Jack Hayward’s quick distribution being an important factor.

Ovey gives promising youngsters Tristan Walters and Brook Legg starts with Lewis Allan remaining at fly-half for this match and George Foot moving out to the wing following his recovery from injury.

With half an eye on next season already and integrating the wealth of young talent into his senior squad, Ovey is keen to keep pressure on for shirts in the starting line-up.

Elsewhere, Weymouth & Portland host Wimborne Seconds in their final Tribute Dorset & Wilts One South clash of the season.

Bridport visit second-placed Blandford in the same division, while Puddletown also round off their campaign at home to Oakmeadians.

After the 2021/22 season finishes, Dorchester hold their annual Surcouf Family Fun Day on Good Friday (1.15pm).
