DORCHESTER Town first-team coach Brian Churchill stressed the importance of the Magpies’ two remaining home games in the relegation run-in.

Glenn Howes’ men are three points above Kings Langley in the final safe position in Pitching In Southern League Premier South table.

Dorchester entertain Hendon at the Avenue Stadium tomorrow (3pm) before finishing their season with visits to Salisbury and Walton Casuals sandwiching a home clash with Yate.

Victory would reinforce last weekend’s 1-0 win at Wimborne and Churchill feels home backing from the Magpies’ supporters can help steer the county town side to safety.

He told Echosport: “It’s going to be back on our own surface and obviously we’ll be looking to take three points.

“We’ve done our homework, we’ll finalise our style of play and how we’re going to break Hendon down. It will be a tough challenge.

“If we can get the support we did at Wimborne, that would be a key factor for us. The players all mentioned how much that meant to them last week.

“If we can get that back at the Avenue, I’m sure we can get the three points we need.”

He added: “Just keeping an eye on the teams we’ve got to play, Yate are on a run thinking they can get to the play-offs – that will be a really tough game.

“That comes after Salisbury, who are finding form of late.

“It’s an added incentive on this Saturday to go out and do the business.”

On Hendon, Churchill said: “They’re difficult to judge, really. Reports are saying they’ve let a few players go.

“But then they turned in a result at home to Beaconsfield. It’s not going to be easy, what’s really important is we keep a clean sheet.”

Tiago Sa will be assessed for a hip knock but Dorchester otherwise have a fully-fit squad.
