DORCHESTER Town manager Glenn Howes dismissed the idea of getting carried away with the outstanding 3-0 win over Hendon and insisted: “We have to get the job done”.

Three points ensured Howes’ men took a giant step towards safety in Pitching In Southern League Premier South.

Dorchester opened a six-point gap to Kings Langley in the bottom three after their 2-1 home loss to Swindon Supermarine.

With only nine points left to play for this season, Dorchester know a draw or victory coupled with anything other than a win for Kings Langley at Yate would keep them up for the 2022/23 season.

Thanks to Alfie Stanley’s double and a second goal in two games for Olaf Koszela, plus Jack Bycroft’s penalty save, Dorchester have earned back-to-back wins and clean sheets.

Yet Howes refused to look too far ahead, reiterating the Magpies till have work to do.

He told Dorchester’s media team: “The supporters and crowd really played their part in pushing us on.

“They were extremely vocal. I know it helps if you’re in a good position but when it was 0-0 they were still pushing and driving us on.

“The Wimborne game, a local derby was magic behind the goal and coming off to that applause and appreciation, it has to be locked on to by the players (during) these moments.

“You only receive that when it’s warranted. It hasn’t been warranted more than enough times this season.

“We have to get the job done and have to finish this season well. We’re under no illusions that we know there’s work to be done.

“We’ll be in (tonight) and working hard Thursday ready for Saturday. We still need more points.

“Then we can hopefully build in the summer and give the supporters some more moments to cheer about.”
