DAVID Oldfield rued the absence of a sprinkling of quality in the key moments as Weymouth drew 0-0 with bitter enemies Yeovil Town at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

Weymouth enjoyed the bigger chances in the stalemate, with two goals ruled out for offside – including Tom Bearwish for a header which appeared to be well onside.

Yeovil struggled to create, Tom Knowles going closest in the second half, while Brad Ash, Tyler Cordner and Mannie Mampala spurned Weymouth’s brightest openings.

It leaves Weymouth 13 points from safety with 18 to play for after Aldershot lost 2-0 to Dagenham.

Weymouth failed to score for an eighth time in nine games and Oldfield lamented a lack of killer instinct to finish off the Terras’ chances.

He said: “From our point of view the boys played well, they worked really hard and had to match a good side in Yeovil.

“Charlie Lee (interim boss) has done a really good job there and it was a big game for us and everybody here.

“To show the commitment and willingness the players showed was really good.

“We just had opportunities, if we could’ve shown a little bit more quality, that we could have been even more pleased with the day.

“Overall, we are where we are for a reason and we need to make sure we get our basics right. Our basics (yesterday) were good.”
