BEN Thomson rates his milestone of 250 games for Weymouth as a “really big achievement”.

Striker Thomson brought up the landmark during the 2-0 defeat at Woking, which also doubled as his comeback game from injury after missing 20 games across four months.

Having been stuck on 249 for so long, Thomson spoke with openness about his passion for the Terras.

He told Echosport: “It’s a really big achievement for me.

“I love the club, I love the fans, so I really wanted to get to 250. I’m really pleased with it.”

Thomson has struggled with numerous injuries during Weymouth’s time in the National League.

Last season he managed only one goal and two assists and, after the Yeovil game on Monday, had notched just two goals in the current campaign.

He said: “It’s been difficult, I’ve had a lot of injuries. It’s been frustrating because I haven’t done what I think I could do.

“That’s just how football works, sometimes you’re flying and sometimes you’re just riddled with injury. You can’t help it, it is what it is I suppose.”

Thomson’s return comes as Weymouth battle for survival in non-League’s top flight, meanwhile experiencing a goal drought in which the Terras have failed to score in eight of their past nine games.

“Sometimes it’s been difficult to watch this season,” he said.

“It’s tough teams we’re playing. You can’t afford to make mistakes. We’ve made a lot.

“In the league below you can get away with it. In this league, you can get away with nothing.”
