HAJI Mnoga did not hold back in his assessment of Weymouth’s 6-1 mauling by Wrexham, insisting the Terras “chucked it all away”.

Portsmouth loanee centre-back Mnoga was named Weymouth’s man of the match but was powerless to stop Wrexham turning on the style with six goals in 36 minutes.

Tom Bearwish put Weymouth in front with a well-taken finish in the 20th minute, and Weymouth were denied twice more by excellent Christian Dibble saves.

But Wrexham destroyed the Terras in the second half, giving a true reflection of their might as braces for Jordan Davies and Paul Mullin, plus James Jones and Ollie Palmer strikes, sealed a play-off spot.

Speaking post-match, Tanzania international Mnoga, 20, felt Weymouth struggled as much as Wrexham impressed.

He said: “We’ve fought hard for the first 45 and then we’ve chucked it all away.

“We’ve come out second half and concede, then we concede again. Second half we were on the back foot a lot.

“The first goal they’ve played it quickly and it’s a good finish but we chucked away everything we’ve done in the first half.

“For us, we do well to get into positions where we’re putting pressure on teams. Then we come out second half. I couldn’t say what it was, but it’s disappointing overall.”

Mnoga revealed he has so far enjoyed his time at the Bob Lucas Stadium, thanking manager David Oldfield for the chance to sharpen his craft across 17 appearances to date.

He said: “To be able to come and find a manager that puts faith into me to play games – I’ve been growing each game.

“It’s helped me play better and I’ve enjoyed being here. It’s been a good experience. The lads have all welcomed me.

“Only positives for me to take and hopefully I can kick on next season. You never know what can happen.”

Mnoga could make four more appearances for Weymouth before returning to Fratton Park, where he is highly-rated by staff and fans alike.

And he believes Weymouth can return to their successful days in the National League South.

He said: “The games I’ve played, we’ve played tough teams.

“The one off the top of my head is Stockport away, where we should ultimately have won the game.

“Next season, they’ve got enough. The gaffer’s just come in and he’s got the whole pre-season so he should be able to work around a good team and get good performances out of everyone.”
