DORCHESTER Town captain Callum Buckley is desperate to prevent the Magpies teetering on the brink of relegation again.

In four of the past five seasons, Dorchester have been battling against the drop from Step 3.

Dorchester negotiated their latest flirtation with relegation by booking a 1-0 win at Salisbury to claim their place in Pitching In Southern League Premier South for 2022/23.

And Buckley feels Dorchester are “too good” to let the same situation occur next season.

Asked what the next step for the Magpies is, he joked: “Win the league!

“No, listen, we’ll have to see what happens. We don’t want to be in this situation again.

“I think we’re too good to be in it, as well. I’ve played here all year and we’ve played against Taunton, Met, Hayes who are up there.

“A lot of them we competed very well and we weren’t far off them. We went away at Farnborough and we should’ve come away with a draw.

“Where can we take it? It’s just about moving forward, getting confidence, starting the league strong and then competing because I think we can – I really do believe that.”
