WEYMOUTH manager David Oldfield described his side’s performance as “obviously not good enough” following the 4-2 home loss to Solihull Moors.

Oldfield watched on as Weymouth slipped to a 27th Vanarama National League defeat of the season against the play-off contenders.

Moors took a 2-0 half-time lead when Harry Boyes volleyed home and Ollie Harfield scored an unfortunate own goal.

James Clarke made it 3-0 before Tyler Cordner netted his third goal of the season from close range after Moors failed to clear a corner.

Andy Dallas then scored a superb fourth, holding off Haji Mnoga and poking past Ross Fitzsimons.

Tom Blair scored arguably the pick of the goals in the 93rd minute, curling home from long range, but the damage had long been done as relegated Weymouth’s winless streak stretched to 13 games.

Speaking post-match, Oldfield told uptheterras.co.uk: “We have a choice, don’t we?

“We went down last week and we have a choice whether to fall away and collapse or whether we try and galvanise ourselves as a club and look forward.

“I felt again during the game there was some really good play.

“There was some flashes of good stuff but the way we concede goals and our lack of continuity as a team whether we’re in possession or out is obviously not good enough.

“We need to make sure that we keep working, keep persevering, keep trying. There is a realisation that has to come that we need to look after the club with our work.

“We have to keep persevering until the final kick of the season. That’s really where our aims and ambitions are now.”

Weymouth have now conceded 10 goals at home in five days and Oldfield could take little solace from the fact the Terras scored twice for only the third time in his tenure.

He said: “We haven’t scored two goals very often. I have to take responsibility.

“More concerning is the ease of the goals that we concede.”

He added: “Solihull do good things and it’s a club we can learn from. We need to make sure we are doing the right things. It was a difficult test for us.

“I felt second half we improved and did better. There are many reasons – the crowd and supporters being the main one why we have to keep going.”
