MARK Loder has been named as Dorchester Cricket Club’s new president.

Loder succeeds Dave Joslin, who spent three years in the role during which time the club’s first team became Dorset champions in each season.

Loder will be responsible for ensuring that the players, officials and spectators have the best possible experience at Dorchester Rec.

Among the tasks this season for Loder will be hosting President’s Day, where the Bere Regis home fixture on Saturday, July 2 coincides with the event.

Loder will invite the non-playing members along for a buffet lunch, a presentation and a chance to enjoy each other’s company.

On the same day, the formal opening of the new vice-presidents’ bar will take place.

The Vice Presidents’ contributions over the past two seasons have enabled the club to fund a modern bar for the club to meet the demand of the thirsty patrons on every playing Saturday this season.

Before President’s Day, Loder will be playing host to Dorset County Cricket Club when the host Buckinghamshire at the Rec in the NCCA Trophy on Sunday, June 12 (11am).

Chairman Mark Derrien said: “The players are thrilled at the appointment of Mr Loder as president and are looking forward to performing strongly for him.

“Mark will continue to be present at every first XI match, home and away, and the players always massively appreciate his support.”
