GUNGHO Marketing claimed a commanding 47-24 win over New Body Fitness in the South & West Dorset League Premier Division.

The game started with both teams looking strong. It took several minutes before either team could score.

Gungho’s defence then gave their attack multiple chances to score with some clean interceptions. The game was very balanced in the first quarter, although New Body struggled to get the ball into the circle.

Some excellent and fast paced play from both teams saw the ball move from end to end with urgency and the first half ended with Gungho gaining a four-goal lead.

In the third quarter, New Body’s GD Verity Bachelor stood up, providing her team with opportunities to close the scoreline.

Her intensity was matched by Gungho C Frankie Harris, who worked tirelessly across the court. Gungho pulled away in the third and fourth quarter, despite these teams being close competitors in the Premier Division table, to take a strong win.

WARMER HOME IMPROVEMENTS A 40

WARMER Home Improvements A beat Coastal Cheese by one point in a thrilling Premier Division clash.

Coastal’s attack created space well, while Warmer’s GS Stacey Groves and GA Linzi Gardener worked well together, and shot with high accuracy.

After a tight first quarter, Coastal lead by two at quarter time. Coastal WA Emily Lumelty worked hard in the second quarter to lose her defenders.

Both defence ends proved tough to beat, as C Becky Hallet got some good interceptions and GK Sam Rees used her height effectively to pick up rebounds.

Meanwhile, Coastal WD Tara Kent and GD Chantelle Bacon marked tightly and used their speed to pick up intercepts. After a low-scoring first half, Coastal led by three goals.

Coastal managed to just hold their lead, thanks to consistent shooting from GA Jane Howard, all the way until the final whistle. After a tense, and tightly-contested fourth quarter, Warmer snuck ahead and took the win by one goal.

FIRST FIT WINDOWS 33

McCARTHY Stone clinched a 41-33 victory over First Fit Windows in Division One.

The defence ends for both teams started this game strong, however McCarthy pulled ahead with some great movement in the midcourt and accurate shooting from GS Mandy Grafton.

Midcourt battles intensified in the second quarter, with both teams making some cracking interceptions. First Fit closed the gap going into half-time after a great shooting display from GS Jess Pym and GA Sue Wooley.

McCarthy then stepped up their attacking play in the second half, consequently putting pressure on First Fit’s defence, meanwhile, McCarthy’s GK Donna Butcher made several interceptions for her team.

Both teams continued to battle hard across the court, as play sped up in the final quarter although McCarthy held on to win.

WARMER HOME IMPROVEMENTS B 16

SANDSFOOT SIRENS 47

SANDSFOOT Sirens took a comfortable 47-16 triumph over Warmer Home Improvements B in Division Two.

After a strong start from both attacking ends, with good movement in the Warmer shooting circle. The ball also spent a lot of time in the Sandsfoot attacking end but the pressure from Warmer’s GD Sarah Bryant left them unable to score from it.

Some tactical changes at quarter time from Sandsfoot resulted in more communication on court. This talking and support appeared to boost their confidence.

Despite the continued determination of the Warmer defence, Sandsfoot’s new found confidence helped them pull away.

Warmer then made changes at half-time to combat this, however they appeared to be tiring throughout the third quarter.

Both sides made multiple changes for the final quarter. This renewed Warmer’s enthusiasm, however Sandsfoot’s defence were tenacious in pulling in any rebounds and loose balls they could.

Sandsfoot took a convincing win, and one of their biggest since joining the league.
