OAKLEY Hanger has announced his departure from Dorchester Town with a "heavy heart".

Hanger leaves the Magpies after 120 games for the club, scoring four goals.

He was one of the stand-out performers as Dorchester scrapped their way to survival at Step 3 level last season.

However, he has become the seventh player to exit the Avenue Stadium in the off season after Harry McGrath, Billy Lowes, Tom Soares, Charlie Gunson, Yemi Odubade and ex-captain Ash Wells.

Taking to Twitter, Hanger said: "I post this leaving message with a heavy heart.

"Dorchester Town has played a huge part in my life having made over 120 appearances since I was given my chance to play at the age of 18.

"Whenever I put on the shirt, I fought and gave everything for the club."

Dorchester responded with a message of gratitude to the full-back.

Hanger's exit means Dorchester have lost another of their more experienced players, adding further intrigue as to the direction of their recruitment this summer.

Dorchester have a ready-made replacement at right-back in Josh Phillips, who has enjoyed a superb campaign for the Magpies' under-23s and Street.

Elsewhere, Echosport understands centre-back Louie Slough has been released by Torquay United. It comes after the 20-year-old enjoyed two loan spells at the Magpies.
