DORCHESTER Town have signed "one of the brightest young centre-backs in the area" after capturing Kieran Douglas from Winchester City.

Douglas, 24, joins after winning promotion to the Southern League Premier South with the Citizens last season, playing 22 times and scoring twice.

He could therefore play against his former club for the Magpies in the 2022/23 campaign.

Douglas is a former Christchurch captain of two years and has previously played for Wimborne Town.

Commenting on his second new arrival of the close season, Magpies' manager Glenn Howes said: "Kieran has started to generate a reputation for being one of the brightest young centre backs in the area.

"His aerial and defensive capabilities will be essential in such a strong and powerful league.

"We are extremely pleased to welcome Kieran to the Avenue and look forward to developing him even further."

Douglas joins Keith Emmerson as the newest recruits at Dorchester, with Callum Buckley, Alfie Stanley, Tiago Sa and Harvey-Joe Bertrand committing for another season.

Dorchester have already announced the departures of seven players this season: Ash Wells, Oakley Hanger, Tom Soares, Charlie Gunson, Yemi Odubade, Billy Lowes and Harry McGrath.
