DORCHESTER Town swooped to sign midfielder Ollie Griggs from Winchester City.

Griggs re-joins Dorchester for a third spell after scoring twice in 24 league games for City last season as the Citizens won promotion to the Southern League Premier South.

Griggs has previously linked up with the Magpies in the Craig Laird era during 2017, before leaving for Winchester in 2018.

He then spent eight months with the Magpies during the pandemic in 2020, exiting again for City where he achieved promotion alongside Kieran Douglas, yesterday announced as Dorchester's second new signing of the summer.

Douglas and Griggs could play against their former club for the Magpies in the 2022/23 campaign.

Dorchester boss Glenn Howes also praised ex-Eastleigh man Griggs for improving his game with Winchester, with whom he enjoyed a 19-month stay.

He said: "Ollie will be well known to the Magpies faithful and rejoins for his third spell with the club.

"Like a lot of young players Ollie has had to work extremely hard on certain aspects of his game and find his way.

"Huge credit should go to the lad for having the bravery and dedication to do this.

"Ollie’s profile will undoubtedly suit our style of play and we can’t wait to see him back in the black and white once again."

Griggs joins Kieran Douglas and Keith Emmerson as the newest recruits at Dorchester, with Callum Buckley, Alfie Stanley, Tiago Sa and Harvey-Joe Bertrand committing for another season.

Dorchester have already announced the departures of seven players this season: Ash Wells, Oakley Hanger, Tom Soares, Charlie Gunson, Yemi Odubade, Billy Lowes and Harry McGrath.
