DORCHESTER Sports are weighing up their options before applying for promotion to Step 6 once more, according to boss Ashley James.

Sports have applied for promotion in each of the last two seasons, missing out to Gillingham Town and Hamworthy Rec on each occasion.

That was despite earning a club record 84 points in the Jewson Dorset Premier League in 2021/22, finishing third in the standings behind Ham Rec and Merley.

“That’s something we’re going to have to have a chat about as a group now,” James told Echosport.

“Everyone’s going to be that year older and people’s lives change.

“Obviously, the cost of travelling has gone up since we applied. You have to apply so early, we did it in November and since then the costs have gone up.

“Anything can happen in those six months. You’ve got to be really, really sure about it. It will be something that we’ll chat about in October this year and we’ll make a decision.

“The group wanted to go up this year. We’ll have a chat with everyone again and then decide.”
