DORCHESTER Town striker Olly Balmer believes his “bond” with fellow ex-Winchester City players Ollie Griggs and Kieran Douglas can serve the Magpies well next season.

Boss Glenn Howes raided City for the triple swoop after their promotion to the Southern League Premier South via the play-offs in May.

Balmer and midfielder Griggs have played together since their formative years, while Balmer has taken to the field alongside centre-back Douglas for the past three seasons.

And Balmer believes the trio’s experience of playing together can only benefit Dorchester.

“I think that does help,” he told Echosport. “Especially with Ollie, I’ve played with him for years.

“We were in the same age group and we’ve got a really good understanding of how each other plays and the same with Kieran.

“We know what each other’s games are about and we know what we can offer – what our strengths, what our weaknesses are.

“I feel like that bond will show on the pitch and help us to get the results and outcomes we desire.”
