TOM Bearwish has become the third player to commit to Weymouth for the 2022/23 season.

Dorset’s own Bearwish, 22, joined Weymouth from Eastleigh last summer and scored four goals in 39 appearances in claret and blue.

The former Portland and Dorchester striker can play in a variety of midfield positions and was also stationed at full-back by both Brian Stock and David Oldfield in 2021/22.

Speaking to Weymouth's media team, Bearwish said: ”I’m so glad to have the chance to play for my local club again and celebrate with the Weymouth fans.

"I’ve got a few personal goals that I’m determined to meet this season and I’ll do everything I can to help reach the goals of the club.

"Having a full pre-season with the gaffer and Tom (Donati, assistant) excites me because I know we’ll be the fittest we’ve ever been and ready for the coming season.

"Hopefully you guys have a lot to cheer about! See you soon TERRAS!!”

Oldfield added: “We are delighted Tom has agreed to sign again at Weymouth FC.

"His character, work rate and ability are exactly the qualities we desire to help us move on as a club. Welcome again, Tom.”

Arguably Bearwish's finest moment came with a 94th-minute equaliser against rivals Yeovil Town in their FA Cup fourth qualifying round tie at Huish Park in October.

He joins fellow ex-Eastleigh man Tom Blair, plus Ahkeem Rose, as definite signings for the Terras.

Echosport understands there are question marks over contracted players Sean Shields and Omar Mussa for the upcoming Vanarama National League South campaign.
