COASTAL CHEESE 20

LEADERS Belle Construction were the dominant team from the outset in this clash South & West Dorset League Premier Division bottom side Coastal Cheese, winning 70-20.

Coastal worked hard throughout the match, with GD Gilly Woodsford and GK Rachel Boyd both securing interceptions.

However, Belle worked the ball through the court with WD Charlie Naerger and C Ashleigh Browne displaying speed and accuracy in their movement and passing and by half-time were leading 34-10.

Through the second half, Coastal continued to work hard to keep pace with Belle but were unable to make an impact with Belle demonstrating why they are top of the division with quick movement, players finding space to drive into and accurate passing of the ball to their shooters, Laura Bucke and Jaimee Browne.

Buckle and Jaimee Browne were able to convert their opportunities from any range within the shooting circle resulting in a convincing win.

VETERANS' HUB 38

WARMER HOME IMPROVEMENTS A 24

ALSO in the Premier Division, Veterans Hub picked up a 38-24 win over Warmer Home Improvements A.

Veterans Hub started strongly with accurate shooting from GS Rachel Scarff and, despite the close attention of Warmer GK Lauren Banks who managed to secure a couple of early interceptions, it was Veterans who led 9-3 at the end of the first quarter.

Warmer found their groove more in the second quarter and were able to secure accurate passes into GS Stacey Groves, resulting in a drawn quarter and a half-time score of 18-12 to Veterans.

Through the second half play was fast and end-to-end from both teams.

Warmer continued to work hard to try and close the gap with C Becky Hallett and GD Jenny Ayles securing a number of interceptions.

However, Veterans were able to control the mid-court and find their shooters with accurate passing from C Abbie Tinsley, resulting in them pulling further ahead and winning by a 14-goal margin.

McCARTHY STONE 45

EXE TRAINING 24

McCARTHY Stone secured a convincing 45-24 victory over Exe Training in Division One.

Impressive defence was evident from both teams at the start of the match, along with some excellent play through the mid-court, however McCarthy were able to edge the first quarter 10-8 thanks to some amazing shooting from GS Sam Shewbridge.

Into the second quarter, McCarthy GA Lanni Sellick applied good defensive pressure through the mid-court to create turnovers for her team resulting in a half-time lead of 21-11.

Quality attacking play was evident from both teams in the second half with McCarthy C Kate Patten holding strong through the mid-court, and Exe Training’s GS Maddy Crumpton shooting well.

Exe Training’s WD Chloe Kelly also picked up some great interceptions. However, spectacular play from McCarthy GD Lauren Osgood and continued great shooting from Shewbridge meant they extended their lead as the game progressed and secured the victory.

WJNC WARRIORS 38

ZEST 26

ZEST pushed WJNC Warriors closely in their 38-26 defeat in Division Two.

Both teams started the match fiercely with turnovers from the defence at both ends, in particular GK Eliza Bradbury and GD Lauren Wilson from Warriors were instrumental in securing early turnover ball for their shooters to convert.

Zest had their own share of turnover ball and WA Lauren Kenney put in some strong accurate passes to their shooters but this could not prevent Warriors from ensuring a 17-13 lead at half-time.

Into the second half, play continued to be close with Warriors C Anna Charles linking moves through the court and keeping a steady head to enable quality passing to the shooters.

Zest's defence, in particular GK Lyndsey Pollard, applied pressure on the Warriors' shooters right up to the final whistle but ultimately Warriors continued to extend their lead and take the win.
