WEYMOUTH have confirmed the signings of Cameron Murray and Luke Nippard, subject to FA and league approval.

Yesterday, Echosport reported Murray had committed to a one-year deal, ensuring the midfielder enters the fourth full season of his Weymouth career.

Murray joined in January 2019 from rivals Dorchester Town and has made 105 appearances, scoring seven times and making 10 assists.

The ex-Scarborough man revealed he is eager to get stuck in to the challenge at Weymouth.

He told the club's official website: "I'm pleased to have signed for the Terras again in what I believe will be my fourth season with the club.

"But I’m firmly concentrating on this upcoming season and looking forward to the challenge which lies ahead.

"The work has already begun and the boys have looked sharp and are working hard in training. I look forward to seeing you all again soon!"

Murray's thoughts were echoed by boss David Oldfield, who said: “We’re delighted that Cameron has re-signed.

"He was a very important part of the group last season, very hard-working and committed to the cause of Weymouth FC.

"He has lots of qualities and a huge amount of energy and good quality on and off the ball, which can still have the potential to get even better and we’re very happy to work with him next season.”

Meanwhile, Nippard joins Weymouth for a second spell after playing twice for the Terras under previous boss Mark Molesley.

Nippard, 21, was released by Bournemouth earlier in the summer but has previous experience with Poole and Eastbourne.

Oldfield added: "We very much welcome Luke to the football club, he is a player who has a huge amount of potential and did well at this level last season.

"He’s had a good education at Bournemouth and has the character and qualities to succeed with us and we hope together we can realise our potential.”

Murray and Nippard are the fifth and sixth confirmed signings behind Tom Bearwish, Tom Blair, Ahkeem Rose and Xander McBurnie.
