WEYMOUTH fell to their second defeat in succession at the hands of Southern League opposition on Tuesday evening, with eighth-tier Frome inflicting a 2-0 defeat on David Oldfield’s men.

Frome’s Matt Smith opened scores after just five minutes, before an injury-time penalty converted by Owen Humphries allowed the hosts to make sure of the result late on.

Terras named four trialists in their starting XI, with goalkeeper Tommy Scott absent from the matchday squad. Keelan O’Connell was handed a first start after signing from National League Torquay, with Tom Blair named on the opposite wing.

The first chance of the game produced the first goal, with Smith on hand to turn home a drilled cross on the five-minute mark.

In a first-half sparse of goalmouth action, Terras did mange to hit the woodwork twice.

O’Connell saw a cannoned back off the bar, whilst Tom Bearwish was an inch-off scoring when his header bounced off the frame of the goal.

The second-half was disjointed by numerous substitutions from both sides. It would be a substitute that would give away the late penalty, allowing Humphries to step up and score Frome’s second.
