ASSISTANT boss James Wood said the physical demands of Dorchester Town’s 3-1 pre-season win over Hamworthy United would do the squad “the world of good”.

Despite falling behind to Sam Griffin’s opener, Shaquille Gwengwe, Harvey-Joe Bertrand and Alfie Stanley were all on target for the Magpies at the Avenue.

Wood told the club’s YouTube channel: “First half I thought we started a little bit sloppy but when they got to grips with it I’d say, after 10 minutes, we started to see flashes of what we can do.

“Some of the interchanges, some of the play was very good. The goals were good and there was some flowing moves there.

“But then bodies started to tire second half, so the quality lacked a little bit.

“But a 3-1 win, a good run-out and physically because of the loading they have had – they won’t see it now – but it will do them the world of good.”
