BELLE Construction ended the South & West Dorset League Premier Division summer season unbeaten with a 53-30 win over Gungho Marketing.

Belle started the match strongly, dominating the play through court and providing GS Jayne Guppy and GA Jaimee Browne plentiful shooting opportunities.

Gungho began to find their rhythm and move the ball down the court into GS Millie Thompson.

However, throughout the first half the defensive pressure from Belle resulted in interceptions and forced errors and they led 25-16 at half-time.

The match continued to be highly competitive with excellent play in the mid-court from both teams and strong defensive rebounds from any missed shots.

It was the Belle shooters that continued to dominate though, with C Ashleigh Browne and WA Louise Bugler securing accurate passes to them and their shooting accuracy meaning Belle continued to pull ahead and at the final whistle they had secured the win and another unbeaten season.

WARMER HOME IMPROVEMENTS A 19

BUGLERS ended their Premier League campaign on a high note with a 41-19 victory over Warmer Home Improvements A.

Both teams started strongly with the score being goal-for-goal as a result of them both securing quality interceptions in the mid-court.

As the first half progressed, Buglers' GK Stacey Sollis and GD Chloe Grier created some key opportunities to gain possession and as a result if was Buglers that went into the half-time break leading by four goals.

In the second half, Warmer’s C Becky Hallett won multiple turnovers but the team were unable to capitalise on these.

Buglers' C Lucy Chatwin proved to be a key influence with her speed of play through court and, with their shooters barely missing, they extended their lead to secure a 41-19 win.

TEAM WAIKIKI 45

EXE TRAINING 18

IN DIVISION One, Team Waikiki secured second place with a 45-18 victory over Exe Training.

An evenly contested first quarter saw Exe Training’s GS Hannah Bowell and GA Ellie Donaghue put up some great shots over the superb reach of Waikiki’s GK Vicki Bartliff and GD Lauren Dabbs.

Play was end-to-end and the first quarter ended 9-9. Waikiki’s defence then started to put the pressure on, securing timely interceptions and disrupting the Exe Training attack to take the lead 21-11 at half-time.

Buoyed by their second quarter performance, Waikiki continued their strong defensive play, the mid-court passing the ball swiftly and GA Lin Rawcliffe putting up great shots they continued to extend their lead through the third and fourth quarters finishing the match with a resounding 45-18 win.

SANDSFOOT SIRENS 34

WARMER HOME IMPROVEMENTS B 14

SANDSFOOT Sirens strengthened their mid-table position in Division Two with a 34-14 win over Warmer Home Improvements B.

Sirens took an early lead, working the ball well through court and into GS Niamh Seeley and GA Lexie Davis. An interception off the Warmer centre pass by Sirens WD Hollie Davis led to Sirens taking the lead.

Accurate passing into the shooters from WA Kate O’Shaughnessy, despite great pressure from Warmer’s GD Juliette Frampton and GK Sarah Bryant, meant that at the half-time break Sirens were leading 16-7.

Warmer’s defence continued to put pressure on the Sirens shooters, and Bryant, now at GD was instrumental in helping bring the ball through court in attack resulting in a number of excellent shots from GA Sophie MacNaughton.

Sirens though continued to demonstrate accurate passing through court and excellent positional awareness from their shooters meant they secured a convincing win.
