WEYMOUTH Wildcats will contest the second leg of the Michael Richardson Trophy at the Isle of Wight’s Smallbrook Stadium in Ryde tonight (7pm).

Wildcats currently sit second in the three-leg series on 32 points, three behind leaders Cradley Heathens but nine ahead of Isle of Wight Warriors.

Speaking to Echosport, Wildcats’ co-promoter James Tresadern expects a backlash from the Warriors.

He said: “It will be a lot tighter and I see this one swinging the way of the Isle of Wight a little bit.

“Henry is on fire, he’s been unbeatable round there. He’s got a point to prove after being ditched by Plymouth.

“If Paul and Sam can get five or six points between them, we’ll still be up there.”

With the tournament well-poised, Weymouth have retained star rider Henry Atkins and George Congreve.

They usher in two changes as Sam Peters and Paul Bowen join, Ben Trigger and Jacob Clouting missing out.
